Science
This week we have been focusing on a new science topic, forces. The investigation we did this week was "does the surface type affect the force needed to move an object" but the rain spoilt our fun. We had a newton meter which we had to pull along a surface to see how much force is needed to pull an object. We had lots of fun doing this investigation. Next time we hope the rain dosent spoilt our fun!

Science
In science we have started a new topic, forces.
We used a newton meter to measure the force of weights, dictionary's and all sorts of stuff. A newton meter measures the force used to pull an object along. We had lots of fun in that lesson
and everybody enjoyed it. Why don't you try to use a newton meter and go measure the force that is needed to pull one of the objects which you have at home.

Greek Myths 2.
Perseus flew down to the monster and with a might slash of his sword the monsters head fell deep beneath the water and the water turned to a red blood colour. The monster was defeated. Perseus took the girl back with him to the kingdom but when the girl told him that that the king was trying to marry his mother, so when he found out he found the king and showed him Medusa's head. In a blink of an eye he turned into stone. The girl and Perseus married and lived happily ever after.

Greek Myths
This week we have been looking at Ancient Greek myths. This week we have been looking at the myth, Perseus and Medusa
Once a fisherman was fishing and found treasure chest. He opened the box and found a boy and his mother. They got took to the king and stayed there for a number of years. The king loved the boys mum and wanted him out of the picture so he sent him away to kill Medusa and bring him back Mudusa's head but the king knew he would fail so when he got there. The gods gave him some gifts. When he got inside the cave he didn't dare to look at Medusa so he just looked into his shield and used a sickle to chop her head off. She layed there on the floor dead. Perseus saw very cute girl handcuffed to the wall. She was there because her father the king had put her there because his land was getting attacked and the only way was to sacrafice his daughter to the sea monster. As quick as a flash the sea monster appeared from no where.

Swimming
Starting from the beginning of this term we have been having swimming lessons.
It has been fun learning how to swim. Some of us are already in the deep pool.
Others are in the lower group where the water is shallow and it is hard to dive. The water only comes up to our chests because the water is so shallow. There are three diving boards in the deep pool so that experienced swimmers who think they're good enough to dive in without drowning. If we are late its because we haven't got changed. We have a stopwatch which shows the record of time and that's the time we have to beat to go back to school and to change. The boys record to get changed is around 10 minutes.

Our visit to Murfy's World!
This week 3B had a fantastic time when we visited Murfy's World which is the Material and Recycling Facility in Becton. Aswell as meeting Murfy we learnt loads about how we can help Reduce waste, Reuse our rubbish and Recycle it. These are the 3 R's. We had to put on hard hats and work in the sorting factory, we had 2 minutes to sort as much rubbish as we could into the correct materials -watching out for the things that couldn't be recycled at all! At the end we had all learnt what things can be put in our recycling boxes - which are: Paper, plastic bottles, glass jars and bottles and tins and tin cans. Remember not to put in any other plastics and no cardboard. So we are all excited now about how we can save and improve our environment. So come on adults, can you help us too?

Last week Year 3 took a trip to Claybury Woods as part of our literacy work. We had received some shocking news that the local council is going to build houses on Claybury Woods destroying the wonderful environment. While we were there we made notes on how beautiful it is, what we can see and do there. We used this to write persuasive letters to the council to try and convince them not to build on there. SAVE CLAYBURY WOODS!!!!! Our letters were so persuasive that the council have decided not to build the houses. Hooray !!!
